Unfortunately, hot temperatures are no joke in Missouri. July can definitely bring the heat. I am so glad I was able to meet Truman and Aubrey for their engagement session on the best day that week!
I met with them right on the outskirts of the Missouri River at Line Creek Trail in Riverside, Missouri. When I spoke with Aubrey in our consultation about possible locations she knew she wanted to be outdoors and by a creek, so finding a quiet nested spot in the woods was exactly what I was looking for. Aubrey and Truman love being in nature and going down to the lake is one of their favorite things to do together over the summer. Let me just say, these two had tan line for dayyss lol
When I stumbled upon Line Creek Trail during my location scouting, I knew it was the perfect location for these two. The trail ways follow the creek through the woods and the atmosphere just absorbs you as wonder deeper and deeper. The lighting was beautiful as the sunset was catching right between the trees.
It's funny... I actually connected with Aubrey our freshman year of college! It was great to get a chance to reconnect and of course I was so honored when she reached out and inquired with her wedding date! It's even better because at that time I had just bought my first camera body, the Nikon D3400. She remembers all the bad "first pics" as I ran around campus taking pictures of everyone. She was even there for my first "portrait" session aka convincing my teammate to let me set up a DIY backdrop and lighting set up in none other than our cramped little dorm room. Spoiler Alert - Vogue turned down those images.
It was so sweet to capture these two during their engagement period. These images are intimate and gentle, the scenery is beautiful and helps bring out a bit more of their personalities. I love how they turned out and believe it or not these two have never had a couples session together! I know right - they made it look so easy - naturals for sure!
